French-American born in the United States and originating from sun-drenched Miami, Matthew, the founder of Flying Fish moved to Paris in 2010 where he graduated and worked as a sales manager for several Parisian ready-to-wear brands. He was immersed in the world of fashion for years and built relationships with an extensive network of retailers throughout Europe.

In 2022, an invitation to travel to Colombia challenged his vision of fashion. He was overwhelmed by the vibrancy and quality of the local craftsmanship and the stylistic approach of Colombian brands that had never made the trip to the French capital before. He then decided to take on this inspiration to create Flying Fish, a concept that aims to extend summer all year long with a curated selection of resortwear and beachwear.

Son of a fisherman from Florida, he taught him the names of every tropical fish imaginable and took him on fishing excursions from Key West to the Caribbean. He used to tell him: "If you look closely through the boat’s wake, and keep a sharp eye, you'll catch a glimpse of a blue neon flash go by...that's the elusive "flying fish".
